Greylander Press User Agreement

About Greylander Press. Greylander Press is an independent publisher founded in 2008. The press has published titles spanning security studies, behavioral science, fiction, and children's books, and operates a developmental services division offering AI-powered tools for authors and writers. Authors who use Greylander Press tools and services agree to the following terms.

Section 1

Imprint and Attribution

Books developed using Greylander Press tools must carry one of the following at the time of publication or distribution.

Option A
Greylander Press Imprint with GP ISBN

The book is published under the Greylander Press imprint, an established independent press founded in 2008 with a catalog of published titles. Greylander Press registers and assigns the ISBN through its Bowker account. GP is the publisher of record for the work, and this association is permanent.

This option provides the structural credibility of an established imprint. Books bearing the GP imprint and ISBN are catalogued, distributed, and treated by bookstores, libraries, and the publishing industry as published works rather than self-published works. The author retains copyright and royalty rights as specified in their individual publication agreement.

Authors who choose Option A understand that the book's association with Greylander Press is permanent. The book cannot be republished by another publisher under the GP ISBN. If the author later wishes to bring the book to a different publisher, the GP edition would be retired and the new publisher would issue a new ISBN for a new edition. The original GP edition remains in publishing databases as a record of the original publication.

Option B
Developmental Credit Without Imprint

The book is published elsewhere or self-published, with the author or another publisher as publisher of record. The book carries an acknowledgment of GP's developmental role, with credit appearing on the copyright page, in the acknowledgments, or in marketing materials in language such as "Developed with Greylander Press."

Authors who choose Option B retain full publishing flexibility. The book can be brought to other publishers, self-published with the author's own ISBN, or distributed through any channels the author prefers. GP's role is acknowledged but is not the publisher of record.

Authors choose between Option A and Option B at the time of project completion. The choice affects the book's distribution path, ISBN association, and ongoing relationship with Greylander Press.

This requirement applies to commercial publication, self-publication, distribution to agents or publishers, and any public release of the work.

Section 2

Author Authority and Responsibility

You are the author of any work you develop using Greylander Press. GP provides developmental tools, diagnostic services, and craft assistance. All decisions about the content, structure, voice, and publication of the work remain yours. You are responsible for the final form of any book you publish, whether or not GP tools were used in its development.

Section 3

No Guarantee of Commercial Outcomes

Greylander Press makes no representation or warranty about the commercial prospects of any work developed using its tools. Publishing is a market. Agents and publishers make their own decisions based on their own criteria, market conditions, and editorial preferences. GP cannot guarantee that any work will be acquired by an agent or publisher, will sell at any particular volume, or will receive favorable reviews or commercial success.

Section 4

Tool Output and Editorial Review

GP tools provide developmental and diagnostic output. The Gauntlet identifies craft issues. The Prose Enricher adds sensory texture. Other tools serve other developmental functions. None of these tools substitute for human editorial review on serious projects. You are expected to apply your own editorial judgment, and where appropriate the judgment of human editors, to any work before submission for publication.

If you choose to publish work without addressing issues identified by GP tools, including findings on the Gauntlet's Red Ink List, that decision is yours and the consequences of that decision are yours.

Section 5

Limitation of Liability

Greylander Press is not liable for commercial outcomes, editorial reception, or any damages arising from the publication or non-publication of works developed using its tools. GP's responsibility is limited to the delivery of the developmental services for which you have paid credits or fees. Once those services are delivered, GP's obligations are complete.

Section 6

PAID AI Governance

Greylander Press operates under PAID AI Governance, a framework for rigorous AI use developed by Dr. Terry Oroszi and published in Forbes. The framework counters the structural bias in AI systems toward producing agreement and validation rather than accuracy and honest assessment. Full definition is available on the GP About page.

GP tools enforce PAID standards architecturally. The Gauntlet's evaluation engine rejects hedged or compensatory framing and regenerates until output meets a fixed honesty standard. Other GP tools operate under similar architectural commitments. This means GP tools may produce critical assessments of your work. The honesty of the output is the value GP provides.

If you are seeking favorable assessment regardless of the work's quality, GP is not the right service for you. Authors who want their work flattered should commission marketing copy, which is a different product available from many sources.

Section 7

Account Creation and Use

Creating a Greylander Press account does not commit you to using GP tools or services. An account allows access to the Author Studio, the catalog, and submission pathways, but the choice to use any specific tool, purchase credits, or submit work for publication remains yours at every step.

You may close your account at any time. You may use the account to browse, evaluate, and consider GP services without obligation. You may sign up to be notified about features in development without committing to use them when they launch.

Greylander Press is a press you choose to engage with based on whether the services fit your work. Account creation is the entry point to that evaluation, not a commitment to it.

Section 8

Credits

Credits purchased through GP are non-transferable and are used within the GP platform across whichever tools the user chooses. Credits do not expire while the user account remains active. If a user closes their account, any remaining credit balance is forfeited. Refunds for unused credits are not provided as a standard policy. Disputes about specific credit charges may be addressed through the support channel.

Section 9

Work Product and Privacy

Work uploaded to GP tools (manuscripts, excerpts, drafts) is processed for the purpose of providing the requested service. GP retains diagnostic outputs (Report Cards, enrichment results) in user account history for the user's reference. GP does not use uploaded manuscripts to train AI models. GP does not share uploaded work with third parties except as required to operate the service (such as API calls to the underlying AI provider for processing).

The user retains all rights to their original work. Diagnostic outputs and tool-generated text incorporated into the user's manuscript are the user's to use as part of their work.

Section 10

Account Closure and Data

Users may close their account at any time. Upon closure, GP will delete uploaded manuscripts and personal information within thirty days. Diagnostic outputs may be retained in anonymized form for service quality monitoring. Users in jurisdictions with specific data privacy rights (such as GDPR or CCPA) may exercise those rights through the support channel.

Section 11

Agreement Updates

This agreement may be updated as GP's services evolve. Material changes will be communicated to users with reasonable notice, and continued use of the service after such notice constitutes acceptance of the updated agreement. Users who do not accept updated terms may close their account.

Section 12

Dispute Resolution

Disputes arising from this agreement will be addressed first through GP's support channel. Unresolved disputes will be subject to mediation in good faith before any other action. The agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Ohio.

Section 13

Acknowledgment

By accepting this agreement and using Greylander Press tools, you acknowledge that you understand these terms and that you are entering into this agreement voluntarily as the author and decision-maker for your work.
